Got your family old photos in a shoebox? And your siblings and cousins have some that you don’t have? It’s time you copied them all so that everyone in the family can have them. Next year, in part 2, Michael Foley will give a presentation on how to bring all of your family research – the records, the stories, the family trees, and the photos together into a beautiful book – the story of your family that you can hold in your hand and share with your family. It’s easier and cheaper than you think, made with standard Word and PowerPoint software, and printed in your local print shop. If you can type with two fingers you can do it!

But first, in this part 1, you need to gather the photos and copy them. How to do that will be covered by Michael in this preliminary session in November. This session will also include tips on how to take individual and group portraits of living family members, simply using your mobile phone and the natural light from your window, nothing more. No prior photographic knowledge or fancy equipment will be needed, and you never know, but you may become the family photographer as well as the historian. If you are uncomfortable with your ability in all of this we suggest that you invite a more tech savvy relative or friend to join you in the two sessions.
