County Louth Archaeological and Historical Society: Grand Jury Records as a historical source for County Louth

The Grand Juries, made up of the major landowners in each county, were largely responsible for the public administration of each county from the mediaeval period until the late nineteenth century when they were replaced by the County Councils. Their surviving records form a valuable resource for historical and genealogical study.
