28 April, 6 PM, via Zoom

About this Event

The National Archives is delighted to announce the third talk in our evening lecture series for 2022. Entitled ‘Researching your Church of Ireland ancestors’, the lecture will be given by professional genealogist Sandra Doble (member of Accredited Genealogists Ireland).

This lecture will introduce a brief history and examination of population figures of the Church of Ireland community in Ireland. It will cover records of genealogical interest produced by parishes such as church registers and vestry minute books. Access to these records will be outlined and advice given on using online transcriptions of baptism, marriage and burial records.

The many sources of information which can be of value to those researching Church of Ireland ancestors will also be discussed such as the Representative Church Body Library manuscript collection; the Church of Ireland Gazette; clergy biographies; school records; marriage licences and Charlton’s Endowment Charitable Trust Fund Marriage Certificates, which will be introduced and explained.
