As in previous years the Society continues to be very busy. In April we held
our AGM which was followed by two afternoon speakers and our Autumn lectures
in late September and November, all of which were well attended. In June we
joined with the Irish Genealogical Research Society for a visit to Kilkenny Castle,
St. Canice’s Cathedral and Woodstock Gardens, County Kilkenny.
In early September Chairman, Gerry Cahill was invited to speak on behalf of
the Society at a meeting arranged on Genealogical Records by Mr. Jimmy
Deenihan T.D. Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, which was held in the
National Library. Thirty one groups involved in Genealogy attended the meeting.
A detailed report of the day’s presentations is available on the Council of Irish
Genealogical Organisation website
